ENROLLMENT CHEQUES FOR GROUP MEDICAL SCHEME TO BE PAID BY 16 MARCH

ENROLLMENT FOR MEDICAL INSURANCE SCHEME BEGINS FROM 2ND MARCH

CHEQUES TO BE HANDED IN NOT LATER THAN 16TH MARCH 2020

DON’T MISS THIS GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY!

Dear Member:

After extensive discussions with members and an education camp held on 22 January 2020 on the Press Club Group Insurance Scheme, we are at the last leg of the launch: the submission of cheques.

To recap: the Managing Committee of the Press Club has negotiated a fresh Medical Group Insurance Scheme with the government-owned Oriental Insurance Company which will offer two options for all members – cover of Rs 3 lakh and Rs 5 lakh per year. A most competitive premium, 30-40 percent below comparative individual schemes, has been negotiated for both member and spouse.

BREAKING NEWS: The importance of an insurance cover has been demonstrated when, under the Press Club’s recently negotiated

Group Accident Insurance Cover for all members, the first claim has been processed successfully. The beneficiary, Gautam Sen,

a photojournalist who met with a motorcycle accident, will receive Rs 24,000 as compensation.

This is golden opportunity we should not lose. Illness and sudden health issues can strike us at any time; and if we are not prepared, the high cost of hospitalization and medical care can prove to be ruinous. The occupational hazards of our profession is also an unpredictable factor, and it is our responsibility today to look after ourselves and our families.

Some of us already have individual policies or have been provided some cover by the company we work for. However, it is always safe to have multiple insurance covers so that we are well protected. An existing medical insurance policy will not debar us from opting for this one.

Given our previous experience with New India Assurance Company, which walked out after one year, we have negotiated that Oriental Insurance will run the scheme for a minimum of three years. If the scheme runs successfully, the company is prepared to reduce premiums after the first year’s trial run; and also extend the cover to children and dependents.

Some of the important features of the Press Club Group Insurance Scheme are (For details, please see the terms attached):

-        It will cover all those in the ages 21 to 80 without requiring medical check-up.
