LAST DATE FOR REDINK AWARDS ENTRIES EXTENDED TO 30TH SEPTEMBER

The Mumbai Press Club (MPC) invites entries for the prestigious National REDINK Awards for Excellence in Journalism–2023.

In the 12th year, the ‘REDINK Awards’ brand has become synonymous with raising the bar of Good Journalism! The REDINK Awards have been instituted to promote best practices, to stand for the truth, and to encourage good quality writing and high ethical standards.

Entries in the form of articles or stories published in the print or digital medium and television stories broadcast during the calendar year 2022 [Category 1-11], and photographs that had an impact [Category 12] published in the print or digital medium in calendar 2022 are invited in the following categories:

  1. Business & Economy
  2. Crime and Investigation
  3. Saving the Environment
  4. Health & Wellness
  5. Human Rights
  6. Lifestyle & Entertainment
  7. Politics & Government
  8. Science & Innovation
  9. Sports
  10. Women’s Empowerment & Gender Equality
  11. The Arts
  12. The Big Picture (Photograph of the Year)

The Mumbai Press will also select distinguished journalists for the following awards:

    13. Journalist of the Year: The Journalist will be selected for a body of work across formats in the calendar year 2022 that has created a lasting impact.

    14. The Lifetime Achievement Award will be bestowed on a senior journalist who has contributed substantially, in the period of his/her career, to the growth and            strength of the profession.

A jury will be constituted to select the awardees for each of the categories 1-12, while categories 13 and 14 will be decided upon by the Managing Committee of the Mumbai Press Club.  The winning entries in each category will be awarded a total cash prize of Rs. 1 Lakh, a trophy, and a citation.

The Mumbai Press Club urges Editors or Media Heads to share this Awards information with their teams. Editors and Media Heads can also participate by directly nominating outstanding stories published on their watch in the respective categories.

The broad guidelines for the contest are:

  1. Entries should have been published/broadcast in the Calendar Year 2022.
  2. The various award categories should be studied carefully, and applications should be made specifically for the category they fit into.
  3. An applicant is allowed a maximum of 3 entries across all categories.
  4. For entries not in English, Hindi, or Marathi, it will be helpful for the judges if the applicant sends an English translation of the content/script.
  5. Entries must have been published in RNI-registered print publications like newspapers, magazines, or recognized web-based publications/television networks. Blog posts or content from personal websites, YouTube, are not eligible for entry.
  6. The Office Bearers and Managing Committee Members of the MPC are not eligible to enter the contest.
  7. A published scanned copy must accompany entries of print medium if the web link is not available or the web story is behind a paywall.
  8. Entries in the various television/video categories must be available online (YouTube or any other website). Only a link and a brief text on the story and its impact should be submitted.
  9. A distinguished panel of judges appointed by the MPC for each category will decide the winners.
  10. The decisions made by the Judges and the MPC will be final.
  11. In a multi-byline article/broadcast (video) story winning an Award, all the authors/ contributors will share the prize money.
  12. Winners who are not residents of Mumbai will be provided travel to and from and accommodation for the Awards Ceremony.
  13. No claim shall be entertained if the winner fails to collect the prize at the award ceremony.

REDINK Awards - 2023: Terms and Conditions

The Mumbai Press Club (MPC) will not be responsible for incomplete, illegible, unviewable, lost, or late entries, all of which will be disqualified. MPC reserves the right to disqualify entries by persons determined by MPC to tamper with or abuse any aspect of the Contest. MPC further reserves the right to disqualify any entry alleged to infringe on any third-party intellectual property or other requests or that MPC deems to be, in its sole discretion, obscene, offensive, or otherwise inappropriate for viewing by a general audience.

By entering the Contest, each contestant agrees that MPC and its licensees may publish their story or photograph or video in the related content of REDINK Awards and exhibit, copy, publish, do derivative works from, or otherwise use their entry and other entry materials for any purpose, in any media, in perpetuity, without limitation or additional compensation.

By entering the Contest, you agree to MPC’s and its licensees' use of your name, likeness, and biographical information in any media for non-commercial purposes without limitation or further compensation, unless prohibited by law. By entering the Contest, you further agree to release and indemnify the MPC against any liability, claims, injuries, losses, or damages arising from or in connection with your participation in the contest. MPC, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to suspend, modify or terminate this contest if it determines in its sole discretion that tampering, fraud, or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of MPC has corrupted, compromised, or impaired the security, integrity, fairness or proper operation of the contest.

The Mumbai Courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any disputes arising from or in connection with the REDINK Awards 2023.
