With increasing use of technology, digital security is a key issue for journalists. In view of this, the Mumbai Press Club in association with the Centre for Internet and Society would hold a half-day-long digital security workshop for its members.

This workshop furthers the Centre for Internet and Society's work as part of the Cyber Stewards Network with aid of a grant from the International Development Research Centre.

The workshop would be held on February 7, 2015, Saturday, at the conference room of the Mumbai Press Club. The workshop starts at 9.30 am and ends at 1.30 pm.

The brief schedule is as follows:

9.30 am  - Registration begins
10.00 am – Workshop commences
11.30 am –  Tea Break
11.45 am– Workshop re-commences
1.30 pm – Workshop ends (followed by working lunch)

Only 25 participants allowed on a first come, first serve basis. Please register at manager@pressclubmumbai.com.  The list of participants would be sent out on Wednesday (February 4, 2015)

The subjects that would be covered are:

1) Why should journalists care about digital security?
2) The Threat model -- assessing digital security risks and responses
3) Security measures and solutions (alternatives to unsecure software and tools, good security practices, computer hygiene and so on.)

The participants would need to carry the following:

1)   Laptop
2)   Smartphone

It is a highly interactive workshop and would be beneficial for the media practitioners.
