HOW WILL THE NEW DEVELOPMENT PLAN IMPACT MUMBAI?

The new Mumbai Development Plan (DP) is a land-use plan that will define space for major infrastructure projects in the pipeline, location of housing, commercial and livelihood activities. It will define the location of parks, schools, hospitals and other amenities too in neighborhoods where there is no access to these facilities. It will determine size and location of open spaces too and ultimately shape the way Mumbai urbanizes over the next few decades. 

There has been a lot of criticism too from planners claiming the DP allows for unfettered use of FSI which will tax the city's infrastructure to breaking point. 

The Media Discussion will be held on Thursday, 12 March, 2015, and will start at sharp4.00 PM at the Press Club. It will have Mr. Sitaram Kunte, Municipal Commissioner, MCGM in the chair. Other panelist will include: Mr. V. K. Phatak, Former Principal Chief Town & Country Planning Division (MMRDA) and Mr. Sanjay Ubale, Managing Director and Chief Executive officer of Tata Realty and Infrastructure
